What is EBR?Every Boys Rally is a church-based, uniformed organisation. It is based on Christian principles and it seeks to cater for the physical, educational, social and spiritual needs of its members. The EBR and EGR began in Australia and New Zealand and has been running in N.Ireland for over 40 years. There are Rallies in Bangor, Newtownards, Dundonald, Finaghy, Armagh, Rathcoole, Seaview and Crescent Church. Because its the EVERY Boys Rally, all boys aged between 12 and 18 are welcome to seniors - nothing else matters - EBR is open to everyone irrespective of background, religion or ability.
The Rally based at the Crescent Church, University Road, Belfast, meets on Friday nights during the school terns, between 8pm and 10pm. On most nights we are based in the church but have regular outings to local events, leisure centres, etc. (Telephone number of the Crescent Church: 028 9024 4026 ) A typical night will include a roll call and inspection; sports and team games; an informal educational session (cooking, camp survival, web-site design, etc.) and an epilogue on real-life issues based on the teaching of the Bible. The rules / expectations of every EBR member are:
The annual subscription for the year is £10. This amount covers some of the costs of EBR, such as activities in the church, outings, suppers, transport, etc. Other costs are covered by the Crescent Church and Education Board.
Two adventure weekends are held, one in November and one at Easter. In the summer, we join with the Girls Rallies for a week-long camp. For outings find weekends, a Trip Information Form provides all necessary details and the Parental Consent section must be completed and returned to ERR before each event. The Rallies are registered with the Belfast Education and Library Board. We believe the welfare and safety of the boys to be one of our greatest priorities and as a result, adhere to the Crescent Church's 'Keeping our Children Safe' policies in keeping with the Children's Order 1995. The Bible tells us that ,as Jesus developed from a child to a young person, He grew in wisdom and stature and in favour with God and men. So, even the Son of God had to develop educationally, physically, spiritually and socially. We believe that every young person should develop in the same way with the same balance, Ultimately, it is our desire that young people will accept Gods offer of true life and that they will give God the control of their lives and live according to His plans.
